Meet the Adjudicators Part Three: Ross Rowland


Many of you may remember this fine gentleman from AACTFest '07 in Charlotte, where he served as alternate on the adjudication team. We are pleased to welcome to AACTFest '09 Mr. Ross Rowland!

L. Ross Rowland graduated from Hanover College with a BA degree in theatre and earned a Doctorate in Law from Indiana University. He is a partner in the law firm of Rowland & Doyle in Muncie, IN. Ross has acted in a wide variety of plays and danced his way through several musicals. Ross currently serves as President of the American Center (Theatre USA) of the International Amateur Theatre Association (IATA). He is past president of AACT, the Indiana Community Theatre League, Muncie Civic Theatre, Heartland Stage Company, and the Delaware County Council for the Arts. He has served as chair of the Indiana Arts Commission’s Theatre Advisory Council. Ross has adjudicated festivals in several states and regions, as well as in Korea, Japan, Germany, Ireland, and AACT’s 1998 international festival. The Governor of the Toyama Prefecture, Japan named him Honorary Friendly Ambassador. Ross was elected to serve as the Chair of the Congress of IATA in Turkey, Morocco, Monaco (three times) an Korea. The Indiana Theatre Association recognized him as the 1992 Theatre Person of the Year. AACT designated him an AACT Fellow in 1990 and the recipient of the Art Cole Award in 1998. Ross has served AACT on the Festival Commission, and as chair of the International and By-Laws Review Committees. He continues to serve AACT as legal counsel and parliamentarian.
